The Hidden Chicken Cafe, a family-owned and operated restaurant, opened in 1996. This home-style restaurant is the life-long dream of Sam and Marilyn Kahn.

In 1995, after 20 years in the real estate business, Sam and Marilyn moved to Santa Fe, from Southern California, in order to fulfill their dream of living in the southwest and owning a restaurant. After looking for a location for over a year they found the perfect spot, in the Smith's Emporium Center, slightly "hidden" from the street and named their restaurant the "Hidden Chicken Cafe.”

After 10 successful years in business Sam and Marilyn are "living their dream." The Hidden Chicken Cafe is a popular local's favorite serving fresh home-style cooking for dining in, take-out and catering. A wide range of menu items include Rotisserie Chicken, Roasted Ribs, Great "Grill" Tastes, Wraps, Sandwiches, Salads and several delectable side dishes. Beverages include coffee, sodas and specialty tea and coffee drinks. A handful of homemade desserts are available to complete your meal. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere have kept a strong customer base with many returning daily. The restaurant has 28 tables, to seat 100 people, with additional patio dining in warm weather. The space is bright and cheerful with sunny country-style accents reminiscent of the 1950's, farm kitchen antiques and an impressive collection of chicken dolls, all making for a comfortable home-style setting.

The Green Chili Chicken, Turkey and Beef Pot Pies are made fresh daily and are extremely popular. The dish was created from an old family recipe using green chili for a distinctive taste. Vegetables and other quality ingredients inside a big puff pastry top make the difference in this old standard. Pot pies are available hot from the oven or uncooked to take home and bake. Some customers travel from neighboring states to stock up on this one of a kind item.

The restaurant recently expanded its catering services by offering complete packages for meeting planners, which include Wraps, Rotisserie Chicken, Sandwiches and Salads priced from $6.95 to $8.95 per person. Everything is prepared "ready to go" on platters with chips, drinks, cookies, plates, utensils and napkins. Delivery is available. Could it be any easier?

Open Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. with plenty of parking.
